I am not the policy holder or on the policy as the dependent, however I pay for the contributions in full from my bank account. It is my parents medical aid policy. Can I claim from SARS for this expenditure? If yes, what information would I need to support this claim from SARS?

if you pay the medical expenses of a dependent, then you can claim the benefit via your own Tax Return. In the opening questions of your Tax Return, you need to answer "yes" to the question asking if you contribute to a medical aid.
In the Medical Aid section of you Tax Return, you then need to complete all the details per the Tax Certificate received from their Medical Aid. You can add up the amounts from your own certificate (if applicable) and that of your parents.

If SARS does request proof, you need to supply them with the certificates from the Medical Aids and be prepared to justify why you pay the medical aid for your parents.

forgot to mention on this thread, I also pay my parents lights and water bill as well Gap cover insurance and home and structure insurance. Is there a way that I can claim for these expenses as well?

Unfortunately these are all personal expenses and therefore not claimable for tax purposes. However, you can certainly use this to justify the fact that your parents are financially dependent on you in the event that SARS queries the medical aid.
