Medical contribution 4005 but my employer doesn't pay

Good day
My employer doesn't contribute to my medical aid, however under code 4005 on my IRP5 my medical contributions I paid in my personal capacity are shown. Is this correct? If not can I change it myself on IRP5 to R0 when doing my return and put that figure that appeared under 4005 to 4040?
Many thanks

Does the medical aid come off your salary though before being paid into your account?

Thanks for your response. No, I get paid my net salary which is made up of just my basic, which gets paid into my bank account, which then gets debited by my medical aid.

I get a basic salary with no benefits.

There should not be 4005 on the IRP5. You need to ask your employer to correct this as it should be zero when you make your own payments directly from your bank account. You can put the amount of your spending (as appears on your medical certificate, rather don't copy the amount from your IRP5) next to 4040 on your tax return under the Medical section.
