Income whilst working outside of South Africa

Can you please clarify this question for me: "Did you earn any income whilst working outside of South Africa?"
My answer is yes but this income is non-taxable in South Africa because I was not physically present in South Africa. I am only filing my income tax return do to a loss on my SA rental property.

Please answer the questions below to ensure your foreign income is exempt from South African tax:

Can I claim a portion of my foreign income as exempt?

You will need to include the exempt income under "Amounts not considered taxable" on your income tax return under the block for "Exempt amount i.t.o s10(1)(o)"

Sorry I should have clarified further.
The income is self-employment income and not income from an employer.
I believe s10(1)(o) is only applicable to employment income?

As non-resident, must I still declare this income as "amount not taxable" even thought it is not SA-source income?

You are correct, S10(1)(o) refers to income earned while employed under an employment contract. If you are non-tax resident in South Africa (which it sounds like you are) then you only need to declare income earned from a South African source.
