I have just received a statement of account from SARS, but it does not state when SARS will pay me, will I need to contact them or something?

Have you just submitted a tax return to SARS and have you received an assessment (ITA34) which reflects a refund due? i.e. a negative amount.

If you were not asked to submit supporting documents, then you should receive your refund in a few days.
However, please read our blog on Why haven't I received my tax refund yet? to see situations that may delay the refund.

You can always wait a few days and if you have not received your refund by next week, you could call SARS on 0800 007 277 to follow up.

i have submitted supporting documents and all went well,
they sent an sms and have not issued a new statement of account, I just needed to know how long after they send the statement of account can I expect the payment

You should receive it a few days after receiving a "completion letter" (this letter confirms that documents have been reviewed) provided that you have no prior year tax returns outstanding and that SARS has not requested you to update your bank details with them.
