I earn R7100 before deductions do I have to apply for a tax return?

It is always best to complete a tax return because institutions such as Banks often require all your tax affairs to be in order before giving you credit cards, new accounts or home loans for example. However if you earn less than R63 556 for the 2013 tax year and less than R67 111 for the 2014 tax year then you do not have to submit a return. Given that you earn more than these thresholds it would make sense to file.
