I don't know how to answer "Did you make any retirement annuity contributions?"



I don't know how to answer "Did you make any retirement annuity contributions?"... I do have a retirement fund, but the contributions come straight from my Cost of Employment at the University of Cape Town before I get my salary, and they're on my IRP5.

If your employer makes the payment and it is on your IRP5 then you must click yes regardless. On the tax return, under the medical section you will see a box next to source code 4006 - Current Retirement Annuity Fund - put the amount in there and SARS will do the rest.
