How to get a tax number as a university student tutor?

I am a student at a university and I have been given a tutoring position, I was told that I will be getting R1500 a month for a 4 month contract and that I need to get registered at SARS for a tax number in order for them to be able to pay me. My question is that how do I go about getting registered at SARS(required documents and information they will ask for) and under which category of employees do I fall under?
