How does new medical aid tax credit work?

I am employed by the government. I do not receive medical aid subsidy. I do however get a tax rebate. Do I still qualify for the tax credit? If so, how do I go about claiming it? Also, does the tax credit mean that we can no longer claim medical expenses not covered by the medical aid for which we pay cash?

Are you a member of a medical aid which you pay for yourself?

My medical aid deduction is reflected on my pay slip. However it is the full contribution amount. My employer does not contribute towards my medical aid.

This will be taken into account already and the only thing you will need to is include the number of members on your medical aid.
