How are one-off payments taxed?

I have just started working as a freelance copywriter however this is not my main source of income. The work is a side-line and sporadic thing. I am about to be paid for a job I've completed and would like to know how I will be taxed for the job- in other words I really want to know how much money I will take home at the end. Is there a way for me to calculate this?

It would all depend on your overall income level after adding up all the income you received from all the work done during the year and your regular income. You can make use of our Tax refund calculator to help you see the overall tax picture.
