We receive a fuel benefit which is indicated as an income ( this in my mind will put me into the next bracket ). I am taxed on the higher income, then the very same amount that has been used for fuel is shown as a deduction. I don't understand this can you please explain. I don't see the benefit of a fuel card.

Please upload your payslip to the helpdesk for us to view.

Your payslip doesn't provide a lot of information as to how they take things into account for tax purposes. It would be best to go to your payroll and ask them to talk you through each item and perhaps ask them how this fits into your IRP5.

The amount reflects on IRP5 as code 3713 other allowances

You will be taxed on that - you can claim against this if you keep a logbook however.
