I submitted my tax return through SARS eFiling but since submission this is the message I keep getting. "Please note that your tax return cannot be processed immediately as there are certain aspects of your tax return that require manual intervention. " Please advise why?

This means that SARS need to look at your tax return and the process will take a little longer than usual to finish the assessment with SARS.

Is it normal for them to take so long and also not to contact a person to advise them?

It is normal for them to not contact anyone on this, but you can call 0800 00 7277 for them to tell you some more information.
