Is this coming from a pension fund?

Yes its coming from a pension fund. It was originally taxed when the husband resigned but he again invested it in an Old Mutual pension fund that will be released in 2018. But since the decision to divorce, R850,000 will be released which is 50%.

That will be taxed according to the lumpsum tables and you can make use of our Lump sum calculator to see what the tax would be.
