Can I claim legal fees on my home for tax purposes?

My husband and I bought a house last year.
Can we claim back the legal fees charged by the lawyer in our tax return?

Unfortunately not, these would go towards the cost of the house in the event that you sell it which would reduce the capital gains tax.
