Allowable vehicle expense deductions

What vehicle related expenses can I claim as deductions? I am a property manager and rental agent and use my vehicle mainly for work purposes. I know that any expense incurred in the production of income can be deducted, so can the cost of my vehicle (repayments) be deducted?

Do you work for a specific agency, are you salaried as an employee, or how does your remuneration work?

Hi yes, a small agency. I earn a small basic but the majority of my income is commissions.

You would then be able to deduct all your travel related expenses. You can depreciate your vehicle, but only the business mileage would be acceptable so you would need to do an apportionment between personal and business, and then use the business portion to calculate depreciation. You could rather use the SARS per km rate for every business km traveled as this includes the Wear and Tear, petrol etc etc.
