I'm a full time student who works at different places over weekends to fund my studies which are ~R50K p. A
Is there a portion that I can be able to claim back from SARS?

In order to claim a tax refund, you need to be registered as a Tax Payer with SARS, have filed a Tax Return and have overpaid SARS tax for the year.

If you are earning above the tax threshold of R73,650 for the year, you should be registered with SARS and paying tax.

Hi Tim
Thank you for the response. I am a registered tax payer as I had a full-time job before but now I am a full-time student and paying my own fees. I make about R100K pa and ~60K is for fees. I do also have an investment plan and life cover. I wanted to know if they consider school fees contribution for refunds. Thanks

It's a pleasure.

Your school fees are a personal expense and therefore would not be deductible against your income on your tax return.
