Tax Return

I am a music teacher. I teach part time at a school. I receive a payslip and the school deducts 25% for paye. I also have a private music studio at my home. When I complete my tax return do I just need to add the income from my private students as my income from the school will be showing already. Also, are there any deductions I can claim in terms of my home studio.

Yes that is correct, you would include the income from private work under the "local business income" section on your ITR12 (Income Tax Return). You are able to deduct expenses that relate specifically to the income your earn. So if your home studio is only used for work purposes then the equipment used for the lessons and perhaps the rent portion of the house related to that room. Remember only business expenses are allowed to be claimed.
