I am newly registered business owner and I registered just before the lockdown took place and I did not receive my tax certificate. I do have my registration number. Please advise on what I should in order to get my tax certificate. This is new to me and I am confused.

When CIPC (Companies and Intellectual Property Commission) registered your company, it would have registered it for a tax number with SARS at the same time.

You can also get the registration number as well as the status of the firm by conducting a free search on CIPC. To do this, you should visit the CIPC portal and perform the company name search.
These details are issued at no cost or you can call SARS on 0800 007 277 and give your company details and they should be able to give you its tax number. Alternatively, you can go to the SARS home page to request the company tax number, go to https://www.sars.gov.za/ then select the "contact us" at the top of the page, select the "request tax number block, and complete company details or you can go to the following direct link: https://tools.sars.gov.za/SOQS/?queryType=11 to complete details.
You can then register it for a Company on your own SARS eFiling profile, to do this please read our blog on Efiling for Companies along with our Company tax guide for more information.
