I would like to know is its unusual for SARS to take more then a year to pay out tax refund? And how common is it that after the payout into my bank account does SARS recall the payout?

No, it should have been paid by now, have you called SARS to enquire why they are not making payment?

Yes, Ive been to the offices last year. I was told that my FICA needed to be done - I have now done that. I spoke to the consultant and according to her it was all up to date. I'm still waiting since October 2015.

I completed last years tax return and there is still another refund which is also sitting in the queue now.

I called SARS and apparently I had a special block, I have requested that they provide more info as to why and what else is required of me to clear this block.

Is this common?

Yes it is and they should send instruction to payment office to make payment. Did they indicate they would do this?

The agent said he escalated and requested they provide more info as to why there is a special block else payment should be released.
He said it can take up to 21 working days, so an entire month of waiting.

On a side note, cannot wait for TaxTim to get going with sme product, and soon I will be doing my 2016 tax returns with you ;)
