SARS lump 2 salaries together, a full time and a part-time salary.

My wife worked full time for Johannesburg General Hospital for 2011 and she started to work part time from the 1st of December 2011 for Doctor Gordon's practice. SARS has add the two salaries. Now my wife must pay R17 000. Her part time salary is about R5 000 or less a month. PAYE of R3438.75 has been deducted from the period 01/01/2012 to period 28/02/2012. Annual PAYE deduction tables dated 2011.03.01, shows that PAYE of R3438.75 falls between an annual salary of R78 840-R78 889. I have a feeling that they have added together apples with pears. The department of health and Doctor Gordon are not the same person. What must I do?

Dr Gordon may have taken off a flat percentage because your wife works there part time only, however a lot if not most of that tax paid should have been refund to you. It is based on annualized amounts and not on the monthly amount.
