Medical tax credit change upon SARS review, can you help?

I calculated that since my wife and kids were on separate medical scheme and that I was contributing towards this I would be entitled to a refund, which appeared on SARS eFiling as such. However SARS subsequently requested my tax documentation and reversed the same credit that was in my favor to me now owing them?

Can you help with this?

Who paid and who was the main member on this policy?

I paid for them as I am on separate medical aid so my wife is the principal and our 2 kids are dependents.

So, as my wife was not working, she was effectively dependent on me and hence I claimed these contributions as medical contributions not paid by my employer

You would have to object to this decision by SARS and write a letter and provide documentary evidence showing you pay for the medical aid and your wife does not work and is financially dependent on you.
