May I claim for paying my wife's medical aid?

I pay my wife's medical aid each month. I transfer the funds to her savings account and the medical aid deducts the premium from her account via debit order. May I claim for these payments on my tax return?

Is the medical aid on her name?

You can try, SARS is very sticky on this, but if she is your dependent and you can prove it to SARS that you pay for everything then you may be able to get the claim allowed. She can claim as well, the credit is the same no matter who claims.

Can she claim even though she isnt earning a salary?

No, tax credits can only be claimed against actual taxes payable.
