Does the receiver of a gift pay tax on the money?

My Dad gave me R60 000 to pay for my studies at a university in the UK. Do I need to pay tax on this gift?

You do not, there is no tax on donations made under R100 000. Furthermore if the "gift" is for studies or support then this does not fall under the definition of donations.
