I earn a basic salary commission. Do I have to pay tax for both amounts combined, or should I only be taxed (PAYE) for the basic salary only? My basic salary is R10k with my commission cap at R5k. Please advise. . .

You need to be taxed on all income earned. Your employer will work out each month how much the tax is on the salary and commission and take off the necessary tax.
