Can I claim from SARS if I earn under R17k but have medical

I earn a gross salary of R17,000. 00 a month and have no deductions except for PAYE and UIF, I do however, have a medical aid which is paid by me and does not reflect on my salary slip. Will I be able to claim from SARS? Do I need to submit a tax return? I've been employed at my company for 5 years and have never submitted a tax return.

Yes you do need to submit a tax return in order to receive a refund based on the information you provided. Register for TaxTim and let us help you submit and for the years outstanding as SARS will require these to be submitted as well.
