Can I claim for med aid contributions that I pay for my mum ?

I pay my mums medical aid contributions every month via debit order through my bank account. It will cost me more if I add her on as a dependant on my medical aid so I got her onto her own which she is the principal member. When filing my tax return, can I claim for this and do I add the tax certicate amount together with my medical aid tax certicate and put this in the column provided. I also pay my own medical aid for myself and 3 dependants. Must I also inform my employer who works on tax credits for just myself and 3 dependants that to add one more as I pay for an extra dependant. Please help and thanks in advance

You would add this to the amount on the ITR12 for Medical Aid contributions and then increase the number of dependents. Due to this being out of your employer medical aid deduction you don't need to inform them as it will not affect the PAYE calculation unless they pay for it on your behalf and then deduct it from your salary.
