AVS for first time tax payers

Hi Tim.

I submitted my first tax returns this year. Was selected for audit even though I only claimed 2 month's worth of tax, submitted my IRP5 and waited. I see I have the AVS verification as SARS status. Is this normal for first time users or do I also need to go into a branch? I have not received a letter requesting any proof of banking yet.

Yes this is normal as SARS are checking your banking details, this should take a few days.

Okay, so I got the AVS status on Friday, and received a completion letter a few moments ago (Monday). I assume this is good news? Thank you for the help.

If the completion letter said, "no adjustments made" then this is good news and you should receive your refund within a day or two.
