Allowable Medical Deductions

My monthly medical aid premium is paid to the scheme through the company (it forms part of my cost to company) but I cover the cost 100%. The total for the year is R31 694 (for me and my son).

I have additional medical expenses not covered by my MA totaling R5 900 for the year.

2 questions:

a. Am I able to claim an allowable medical deduction?
b. where on the e-filing form would I enter them?

You can claim, but due to SARS complicated formula you may not get a refund because of it. You would enter the amount in the Medical Aid section of the ITR12 under source code 4020 - other medical expenditure not covered by medical aid.
